I drove starting in Whitewater, CA where the Colorado and Mojave deserts meet. This route passes through the stark desert landscapes of Twentynine Palms and historic Amboy before entering the vast wilderness of Mojave National Preserve, known for its Joshua tree forests, volcanic cinder cones, sand dunes, and remote mountain ranges. As I continued north toward Primm, the drive follows scenic roads through Kelso and Cima, offering views of the historic Kelso Depot, expansive desert basins, and some of the most pristine Mojave Desert scenery in the American Southwest.
