Black Mountain Open Space Park is a 2,352-acre natural area in the Rancho Peñasquitos area of northern San Diego with numerous trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding through chaparral, grasslands, and riparian habitats. The centerpiece of the park is the 1,554-foot summit of Black Mountain, offering 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, surrounding mountains, and downtown San Diego on clear days. The park also supports diverse native plant and animal communities, including coastal sage scrub and over 80 bird species.
